ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION

Directions: Approximately 30 East, 500 North (North of Jacob Hamblin Park)
Description: The Kanab City Arbor Day Celebration will complete the “Trees Make A Difference” Community Forestry Grant plantings. Kelly Washburn, Community and Urban Forester for the Southwest Region, Utah Department of Natural Resources, will demonstrate proper tree planting techniques. Then we’ll get to work planting 13 big shade trees! Planting, care and species information recommended for the region will be offered. Bring gloves, shovel, drinks, and sun protection.
When completed, this project adds over $12,000 in improvements to create shade at the Kanab City Baseball Fields Quad, enhancing comfort and skin safety for the players and fans. Shade tree types will be identified to provide Kanab residents with an arboretum of species recommended for planting.
