BUCKSKIN GULCH SLOT CANYON HIKE

Date: Friday, May 20, 2011
Time: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Location: Gather at the Earthfest Information Table, Kane County Office of Tourism, 78 South 100 East, Kanab, Utah. Carpool or caravan to the trailhead. In case of rain, muddy roads may require selection of an alternative destination. Fee Required.

Description: Join former BLM Park Ranger Marty Feely on a moderate 5-mile hike into world-famous Buckskin Gulch. Expect a dry and rocky route with some knee-deep wading in pools of cold, muddy water at depths set by most recent flooding. Time will be allowed for photography and enjoyment of this magic “underworld.” Wear proper shoes and pack your lunch, snacks, hat, sunscreen, and lots of water. Day-use fee: $6.00 per person at the trailhead. Limit 10 people. If rain is ongoing or in the forecast, an alternate hike will be found. Advance registration required. Contact hike leader, Marty Feeley.
