The glare from typical city street and parking lot lighting can obliterate all but the brightest astronomical objects. However this has not kept amateur astronomers from setting up a telescope to share a quick view of a planet or double star, and take some time to talk about “what’s up”. Enjoy conversation, star stories and a telescopic view of sky objects visible from downtown Kanab. Learn the basics of dark sky friendly street lighting and what can be done to enhance the visibility of stars over your city.
