This film will open the program entitled: Quality of Place: Expressing your Experience of Utah’s Wildlands, a workshop with Author, Brooke Williams, exploring story as the conduit to our most honest and deepest relationship to place – the essence of why we care about our cherished lands.

The extraordinary journey of eight souls across the majestic, breathtaking landscapes of Utah and the Four Corners area of the American Southwest – five dancers, two film makers and one photographer reveal their uplifting and challenging experience in this inspiring film by Maida Withers. TUK is a fusion of dance, earth scenes and sound created on-site in remote locations such as Muley Point, Butler Wash Ruins and Natural Bridges National Monument. CHAMBER MUSIC AND FINE ART AT BINGHAM GALLERY

Description: In a first ever collaboration between Amazing Earthfest, Grand Staircase Escalante Partners and the Thunderbird Foundation, an evening of delightful chamber music, exquisite fine art, and refreshments will be hosted in an elegant setting by Paul and Susan Bingham. If you appreciate original paintings of southern Utah landscapes by well-known contemporary artists, and enjoy hearing the very best in classical chamber music performance, you won’t want to miss this outstanding occasion created by three local non-profit organizations. A suggested donation of $15.00 per person is payable at the door.

A memorable performance of classical chamber music followed by savory refreshments will feature Conductor, Joel Rosenberg, viola; Linda DeLuca, violin; and Connor Chee, piano; in works including The Seasons by Astor Piazzolla, and two Preludes; B-Minor Opus 23, No 5, and G-Minor Opus 32, No 10, by Sergei Rachmaninoff. A wide range of lovely landscape paintings in oil and watercolor are on display at Bingham Gallery and available for sale.

Description:
Joel Rosenberg, violist, will lead an ensemble of local and guest musicians in a full-length concert of chamber works for viola, violin and piano, including trio and solo performances.

Mr. Rosenberg will be accompanied by Kanab educator and violinist, Linda Ghidossi-DeLuca, violinist, Mary Danzig, violist, Peter Danzig, the sensational young Navajo pianist Connor Chee, and contemporary Native American composer and performer, Arvel Bird.

The program will open with Joel Rosenberg, Linda Ghidossi DeLuca and Connor Chee in a trio performance of The Seasons by Astor Piazzola, followed with a solo performance by Connor Chee of the Civil War Variations for Piano, by John Logan Skelton.

To conclude the first half of this concert, Joel, Linda and Connor will perform Symphonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Piano, by Mozart.

Following an INTERMISSION, Joel Rosenberg, Linda Ghidossi DeLuca, Connor Chee, Mary Danzig, Peter Danzig and Arvel Bird will form a sextet to perform the Sonata for Viola and Chamber Ensemble by Niccolo Paganini.  Concluding the second half of this outstanding concert, the full Sextet will perform three original compositions by Arvel Bird, entitled Bear, Red Tail Hawk, and Dragonfly/Star of Munster Medley.

Connor Chee, born Page, Arizona, 1987, received his Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music. While a student, he performed solo concerts in Ohio, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico, and attended the Chautauqua Music Institution in 2007 and 2008. Prior to his studies at Eastman, Connor attended the Cincinnati School for Creative and Performing Arts, where he studied under Simon Goykhman and Anna Weinstein, competing in the World Piano Competition, earning two gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, The United Nations, the United States Department of Energy, and for American Indian Recognition Month, Cincinnati Pops, Hamilton/Fairfield, Blue Ash Symphony and Symphony of the Canyons. He is currently working toward his Master’s in Music at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati.

Linda Ghidossi-DeLuca earned Bachelor and Masters Degrees from The Juilliard School, has performed with Yo-Yo Ma; as principal violist and soloist, appeared with three San Francisco Bay Area orchestras; recorded music for films, including Mars Attacks, Predator II, Soap Dish, Cop And A Half, and others; recorded a remake of the Star Wars Themes conducted by John Williams at Skywalker Sound Stage in Marin County, California; and toured in the USA and Canada with the Dixie Chicks in 2003, as a member of a string quartet.

Joel Rosenberg is a graduate of The Juilliard School in New York City. Mr. Rosenberg has received the Individual Artist Grant from the Utah Arts Council, and a Fulbright Grant to Italy, where he studied at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena.
He has conducted the Australian Ballet with the Elizabethan Philharmonic and the Orchestra of Victoria at the Sydney Opera House, as well as the New Zealand Opera in Auckland, the Utah Opera, Ballet West with the Utah, Phoenix and Portland Symphony Orchestras, the San Francisco Ballet and the New Mexico Symphony, the Erik Hawkins Dance Company, and has appeared in concerto performances with pianist, Leon Fleisher.
Presently, Mr. Rosenberg conducts the American West Symphony and Ballet, and the Paradigm Chamber Orchestra in Salt Lake City. http://www.joelrosenbergconductor.com/pages/about.html

Arvel Bird, a Native American Flutist/Violinist, is known around the world for his dramatic connection between Native American and Celtic traditions, stirring up scenes that echo from North American memory. Dubbed “Lord of the Strings” by fans and music critics, his music evokes the soul of North American history and is thoroughly entertaining, but also enlightening and humanizing. In a language and experience that captures the hearts of all audiences, he’s emotional without being condescending, intellectual without being pretentious. Peter and Mary Danzig have won State and National Champion performance awards on violin, viola, mandolin and other instruments, and will also appear in the 6^th Amazing Earthfest Gala Folklife Concert on Friday, May 18, at Crescent Moon Theater.
