Grand Canyon NP Centennial Event!

Date: Sunday, May 12, 2019
Time: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, UT Time (7:00 AM – 1:00 PM, AZ Time)
Location: Meet at the Earthfest Information Table, Kane County Office of Tourism, 78 South 100 East, Kanab, at 7:00 AM. Drive or carpool to Jacob Lake, AZ, a distance of 37 miles.

Description: The magnificent splendor of the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, so close to Kanab, is a powerful attraction for visitors who enjoy the spectacular scenery of protected public lands and for locals who live close by! Celebrate the centennial of Grand Canyon NP on this sylvan 50-mile out and back ride through the North Kaibab National Forest. AZ Hwy 67 is closed until May 15. From Jacob Lake, riders will hop the gate and ride south on 67 toward Kaibab Lodge, a distance of 25 miles with 1,500 foot elevation gain. Turn around at the lodge and go back, or venture all the way to the North Rim at your discretion. Ride as far as desired and turn back when you choose. Expect near zero traffic. Because Hwy 67 is closed, no vehicle support will be available along the route unless you make your own arrangements via unpaved forest roads.
